Dr Jay Patel gained his Bachelor of Dentistry from Kings College Hospital School of Medicine and Dentistry, London in 1986.

He worked in general practice with an emphasis on cosmetic work, placing his first porcelain veneers and undertaking whitening procedures more than 20 years ago.

During the nineties Jay turned his attention to a new field in dentistry – dental implants. Having undertaken his training at the prestigious Eastman Academy in London, he later gained his Masters Degree in Dental Implantology from the Charles Clifford Dental Institute.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Jay has travelled to North America and Europe to further his dental education. He is involved in teaching and training dental colleagues, as well as being a partner in a multi-disciplinary practice in Leicestershire with an emphasis on treating complex dental problems.

Jay is a member of the Association of Dental Implantology, British Academy of Cosmetic dentistry and the ITI (International Team for Implantology), a body dedicated to the development of education of dental implants.

Dr Chhaya Patel - Partner

Dr Chhaya Patel BDS (Lond) qualified from Kings College School of Medicine and Dentistry, London in December 1987. After graduating, Chhaya began her career working at the teaching hospital at Kings College, concentrating on restorative and surgical dentistry.

In the early 90’s, Chhaya developed a special interest in Orthodontics and went on to work in the orthodontic department of Bedford and St Albans hospitals for a number of years. In 1994 she returned to her hometown of Leicester to work in general practice, while still working at Bedford, before becoming a partner of Hallcross Dental Practice in 2002 along with her husband Dr Jayesh Patel.

With a passion for dentistry and orthodontics, Chhaya set her sights on transforming Hallcross Dental Practice to ensure all departments provided the optimum level of care for patients. With her strong determination and enthusiasm, Chhaya successfully began running Hallcross Orthodontics.

In 2007, Chhaya embarked upon a post graduate course at Warwick University where, in July 2011, she obtained her MSc in Orthodontics. The course enabled Chhaya to further enhance her professional development at Masters level and gain a specific expertise in the field of Orthodontics.

Chhaya divides her time between Leicester and London, working as an associate at the Welbeck Clinic in Central London and also at Melton Orthodontics in Melton Mowbray and of course, Hallcross.

To remain at the forefront of designer smiles, Chhaya has travelled as far afield as Australia and North America to ensure clinical excellence, offering her patients the latest treatments and outstanding care. With detailed explanations and thorough treatment planning, patients can reach their goals.

Chhaya prides herself on her work as an Orthodontist. With the latest treatments including Invisalign and Incognito available, Chhaya uses her professional expertise to help patients create their dream smile. Combined with Orthodontics, Chhaya is also interested in facial aesthetics, being fully trained in the use of dermal fillers and wrinkle smoothing injections.

Outside of the practice, Chhaya enjoys spending time with her family and two sons. In her free time she likes keeping fit, ski-ing and fine dining. Chhaya loves to spend her spare weekends in London and very much looks forward to travelling to different destinations each year on holiday.

Dr Habib Akram

B.D.S.

Habib qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1996 and has been with the team at Hallcross since 2004. His calm, reassuring manner is particularly welcomed by nervous and anxious patients.

He has attended numerous cosmetic courses throughout the UK over the last 10 years, developing his special interest in cosmetic dentistry. He has completed many full smile makeovers and is a member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Habib is an accredited "Inman Aligner®" dentist which is a new superfast method of straightening front teeth.

Dr Altaaf Hathiari

Altaaf Graduated from Manchester university in 1998 and has now been with Hallcross for 8 years. He enjoys all aspects of dentistry and has attended many post graduate courses at the Eastman Dental Institute in London. His most recent set of courses specialised in cosmetic dentistry in which he has a special interest.

Dr Sunny Kotecha

B.D.S.

Sunny joined Hallcross in August 2009 after having qualified with clinical distinction in 2008 from The University of Birmingham. He is currently undertaking his Royal College of Surgeons exams and has a keen interest in smile makeovers, cosmetic and surgical dentistry. Sunny is an avid Manchester United fan and regularly enjoys playing football, badminton and bodybuilding.

Dr Upen Vithlani

Upen qualified from Birmingham in 2007 and is passionate about dentistry. Since qualifying he has continued to develop a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry. Seeing dentistry as an art Upen provides white fillings that match your natural teeth with attention to the finer details to ensure a smile you want. He is currently undergoing further post-graduate education in cosmetic & restorative dentistry by some of the leaders in their fields, in London. He also has a keen interest in root canal treatments and "invisible" braces (Invisalign©and Clearstep©).

Undoubtedly however, he feels the most rewarding part of being a dentist is transforming the very nervous patient to a regular attendee who is happy to have dental care in the calm, relaxing environment here.
