Oral hygiene is one of the most important activities of your day and is the cornerstone to all dental treatments. It is essential for any other treatment to be successful.

Oral hygiene is not only good for your mouth but also for the rest of your body. Research has shown that there is a link between poor oral hygiene and chronic heart disease, diabetes, low birth weight babies, and even premature babies. The weight of evidence seems to suggest that cleaning your teeth regularly and properly will improve your overall health.

The best time to brush is after breakfast and before you go to bed. Flossing or interdental cleaning can be carried out at any time of the day. If your gums bleed when you brush or floss this signifies that plaque and bacteria are still present in the mouth and more cleaning is required.

At Hallcross we have a dedicated team of Dental Hygienists who specialise in treating gum disease and helping patients improve their oral hygiene.  They can also give advice on halitosis (Bad Breath).

"The more you clean, the less your gums will bleed.
Remember your oral health is your responsibility every day of your life."
