Replace Missing Teeth

Dental implants to permanently replace missing teeth

The fear of losing our teeth is something many of us experience. Today, however, tooth loss does not have to be a permanent problem. Our dental implant system provides a safe and reliable method for replacing teeth, whether you have lost one, several, or all of them. Your new teeth look and feel natural, and allow you to live, laugh and enjoy life with total confidence. With a dental implants consultation, a choice of finance options, and a genuinely kind and gentle approach to dental care, at Hallcross we are passionate about transforming the smiles of our valued patients for their long-term benefit.

What are single and multiple dental implants?

Single dental implants

A single dental implant is an ideal solution for replacing one missing tooth. It involves placing a small, biocompatible titanium post that serves as an artificial tooth root. Once securely positioned, this post supports a custom-made crown designed to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, restoring your smile’s appearance and function.

Multiple dental implants

For patients missing several teeth, multiple dental implants provide a secure, versatile solution. These implants can support individual crowns or a dental bridge, allowing you to replace multiple teeth without relying on your remaining natural teeth for support. Beyond restoring your smile, this approach helps maintain your facial structure by preventing bone loss and improves the overall health of your mouth.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have an implant?

If you have enough bone density, then having an implant will not be a problem. Your implant needs plenty of bone to fuse to, so we first assess the health of your jaw. If there has been any loss of bone tissue, we can use a bone graft to encourage the tissue to replenish. In some cases of severe gum disease, we will also need to replace lost bone to help the structure and health of your jaw.

Does having a dental implant hurt?

Dental implant treatment shouldn’t hurt. We use local anaesthetic to numb the affected area during surgery, and any discomfort post-surgery and during the healing process can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief. If you are feeling particularly nervous or worried about the surgery, we may be able to use sedation. Overall, many patients find implant treatment is less painful than a tooth extraction.

How long does it take to have a dental implant fitted?

The actual fitting of your dental implant is a relatively quick surgical procedure, taking around 30 minutes – 2 hours, depending on how many implants you are having and your individual case. After it has been fitted, your implant needs around 3-6 months to heal and fuse to your jawbone before your new replacement teeth can be fitted.

How long do teeth implants last?

Teeth implants have the potential to last for the rest of your life, providing they are properly looked after and treated with care. We advise you keep up with a great brushing and flossing routine at home, look after your general health and visit your dentist for regular check ups. The fixed crown or bridge that the implant supports may need to be replaced over time due to natural wear and tear.

Will people be able to tell I have a dental implant?

Dental implants are an excellent replacement for missing teeth, as they look, feel and function exactly as natural teeth do. As such, the implant provides a very strong foundation and will not move or slip. When combined with the natural looking replacement tooth on top, which we can match to the shape and colour of your existing teeth, other people will not be able to tell you have an implant.

How do I look after my dental implants?

Just like with natural teeth, implants will last longer if you keep up with a regular and thorough cleaning routine. While the replacement teeth are resistant to bacteria, the supporting gum tissue and bone are not. Keeping your mouth clear of bacteria will make sure your implants last just as long as your natural teeth.
