Dental implants to permanently replace missing teeth

The fear of losing our teeth is something many of us experience. Today, however, tooth loss does not have to be a permanent problem. Our dental implant system provides a safe and reliable method for replacing teeth, whether you have lost one, several, or all of them. Your new teeth look and feel natural, and allow you to live, laugh and enjoy life with total confidence. With a dental implants consultation, a choice of finance options, and a genuinely kind and gentle approach to dental care, at Hallcross we are passionate about transforming the smiles of our valued patients for their long-term benefit.

What are single and multiple dental implants?

Single dental implants

A single dental implant is an ideal solution for replacing one missing tooth. It involves placing a small, biocompatible titanium post that serves as an artificial tooth root. Once securely positioned, this post supports a custom-made crown designed to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, restoring your smile’s appearance and function.

Multiple dental implants

For patients missing several teeth, multiple dental implants provide a secure, versatile solution. These implants can support individual crowns or a dental bridge, allowing you to replace multiple teeth without relying on your remaining natural teeth for support. Beyond restoring your smile, this approach helps maintain your facial structure by preventing bone loss and improves the overall health of your mouth.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have an implant?

If you have enough bone density, then having an implant will not be a problem. Your implant needs plenty of bone to fuse to, so we first assess the health of your jaw. If there has been any loss of bone tissue, we can use a bone graft to encourage the tissue to replenish. In some cases of severe gum disease, we will also need to replace lost bone to help the structure and health of your jaw.

Do dental implants hurt?

Implant surgery is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn’t feel pain during the procedure itself. Mild discomfort or swelling for a few days afterwards is normal and typically managed with over-the-counter pain relief. We also offer sedation for patients who feel anxious or nervous about treatment.

How long does it take to have a dental implant fitted?

The actual fitting of your dental implant is a relatively quick surgical procedure, taking around 30 minutes – 2 hours, depending on how many implants you are having and your individual case. After it has been fitted, your implant needs around 3-6 months to heal and fuse to your jawbone before your new replacement teeth can be fitted.

How long do dental implants last

With good aftercare and regular hygiene visits, dental implants can last decades, and often a patient’s lifetime. The crown on top may need replacement after 10–20 years of wear, but the implant itself, once successfully integrated, is designed to be a long-term solution.

Will people be able to tell I have a dental implant?

Dental implants are an excellent replacement for missing teeth, as they look, feel and function exactly as natural teeth do. As such, the implant provides a very strong foundation and will not move or slip. When combined with the natural looking replacement tooth on top, which we can match to the shape and colour of your existing teeth, other people will not be able to tell you have an implant.

How do I look after my dental implants?

Clean your implants like natural teeth, by brushing twice daily and cleaning between them, combined with regular hygiene appointments. While the crown is resistant to decay, the surrounding gum and bone are still susceptible to bacteria, so consistent cleaning protects your implant’s longevity.

How much does a single dental implant cost in Leicester?

At Hallcross Dental, a single implant costs £3,000 – £3,300, including the implant, abutment, crown and any bone grafting needed during the procedure to optimise the result. The exact figure within that range depends on the complexity of your case.

Will I be charged extra if I need a bone graft?

For single implants, no – minor grafting used to optimise results during surgery is already included in our quoted price, and we never charge more than quoted. If a significant graft is needed before implant placement, we identify this at consultation and CT scan stage and quote for it separately and transparently in advance.

Why do implant prices vary so much between dentists in Leicester?

The quoted prices of dental implants in Leicester vary because some include the crown, bone grafting and follow-up care, while others price only the implant itself and add further costs later. Always make sure you know exactly what is included to make a full price comparison.

Are dental implants safe?

Yes. Dental implants are a well-established, evidence-based treatment with success rates of up to 95-98% in suitable candidates. As with any surgical procedure there are risks, which is why a thorough assessment and CT scan are carried out before treatment.

Am I too old for dental implants?

There’s no upper age limit for dental implants. What matters is your bone health and general fitness for a minor surgical procedure rather than your age itself. Many patients in their 70s and 80s successfully have implants placed.

What is the success rate of dental implants?

Success rates in suitable candidates are commonly reported at 95–98%, making implants one of the most predictable treatments in modern dentistry when placed and maintained correctly.

What happens if a dental implant fails?

Implant failure is uncommon, especially if your implant has been placed by a highly experienced clinician at an established practice. If failure occurs, it is usually addressed by removing and, where appropriate, replacing the implant after the site has healed. You can discuss any specific guarantee or aftercare policy with your dentist before treatment.

Dental implants vs dentures - which is better?

Implants are fixed permanently in the jaw and function like natural teeth, while dentures are removable and can shift or feel less stable. Implants also help preserve the jawbone, which is not the case with dentures, but they involve a surgical procedure and a higher upfront cost.

Dental implants vs a bridge - which is better for one missing tooth?

An implant replaces a single tooth without affecting the teeth either side of it, whereas a bridge requires grinding down the adjacent healthy teeth to anchor a false tooth between them. Implants are generally preferred where the adjacent teeth are healthy.

Acrylic or porcelain teeth for a full-arch implant - which should I choose?

Acrylic is more affordable but less durable over time, while porcelain costs more but offers greater strength and a more natural aesthetic long term. The right option for you depends on your budget, bite force, and how you weigh the cost against the longevity of your results. We discuss this in detail with you at your consultation.

What should I look for in an implant dentist in Leicester?

If you’re looking for an implant dentist in Leicester, it helps to look for a clinician with specific postgraduate implant qualifications (not just general dental training), a track record of case volume, transparent pricing that states what’s included, and with a proper CT scan and consultation before any fixed quote is given.
